Retail Driver/Helper New Zealand

Te Omanga Hospice is hiring a full-time Retail Driver/Helper. The person in this job will pick up and deliver donated and sold goods for the hospice’s retail stores. They will drive a delivery vehicle safely and help load and unload items, some weighing up to 25 kilograms. The job needs someone who is good with customers and can solve problems quickly. They will also keep the vehicle clean and in good condition. The driver/helper will work with others as part of a team and follow health and safety rules. Having a clean Full Class A Drivers License is required. Being able to use a computer and talk kindly with people is important. This role is for 40 hours each week and helps support the hospice’s work in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the delivery vehicle safely to pick up and deliver donated and purchased goods for the retail stores.
  • Load and unload items carefully, including some that may weigh up to 25 kilograms, using approved equipment.
  • Check the vehicle and equipment regularly to make sure they are clean and working well.
  • Help solve any customer issues quickly and politely when delivering items.
  • Work as a helpful and supportive team member with other staff at the hospice and retail stores.
  • Follow all health and safety rules to keep yourself and others safe while working.
  • Use basic computer skills to record deliveries and other important information.
  • Keep good communication with customers and donors, showing respect and kindness at all times.

Requirements

  • Must Have Skills
  • You must have a clean Full Class A Drivers License to drive the delivery vehicle safely.
  • You need to be physically able to lift and handle heavy items up to 25 kilograms using the equipment provided.
  • You should have good customer service skills and be able to speak kindly and respectfully with customers and donors.
  • Basic computer skills are important to record deliveries and help with other tasks.
  • You must be organized and able to follow health and safety rules at all times.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in customer service is helpful for this role.
  • Knowing how to work well in a team and help others is a plus.
  • Being able to solve problems quickly and calmly when issues come up is preferred.
