Facilities Operator Required In New Zealand

Green by Nature, passionate about enhancing and preserving the natural beauty of Thames and the surrounding areas, is seeking a dedicated Facilities Operator to join their team. In this fixed-term role supporting the Summer Peak season, you’ll be responsible for various duties including rubbish collection and disposal, cleaning of public amenities such as barbeques and bus stops, and general maintenance and cleaning of public bathrooms across the Whangamata region. Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the team manager, you’ll be responsible for a variety of duties that keep public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming.

  • Perform rubbish collection and disposal across public areas, ensuring bins are emptied and waste is properly managed.
  • Clean and maintain public amenities including barbeques, bus stops, and public bathrooms to high standards of hygiene and presentation.
  • Conduct general maintenance tasks as required to keep facilities in good working order.
  • Work outdoors in a physically active role, moving between sites across the Whangamata region.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, adhering to company policies and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standard.

Schedule

  • Duration: Fixed term until mid-April (supporting Summer Peak season)
  • Days: Saturday to Tuesday
  • Hours: Guaranteed hours each week, with the possibility of increasing based on operational demands

Qualifications and Experience

We’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a love for the outdoors, and a commitment to safety. Previous experience is preferred but not essential what matters most is your willingness to learn and get stuck in.

Essential Requirements:

  • A full, clean driver’s licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
  • The desire to work in an outdoor, physical role a good level of fitness is required.
  • A high health and safety awareness with a commitment to adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • An awesome work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to work well within a team.
  • In accordance with our Drug & Alcohol Policy, the successful applicant will be required to undergo and pass a pre-employment drug test.

Preferred (But Not Essential):

  • Previous experience in a similar role or environment.
