Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance and repairs on the company’s lines network and equipment, ensuring reliability and safety of the electricity supply.
- Plan work with and coordinate contractors and subcontractors on the network as required, ensuring all work is completed efficiently and to standard.
- Work in a safe and diligent manner, complying with all company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in site inductions and training as required to maintain current skills and knowledge.
- Look after company property and tools, carrying out weekly checks and reporting any issues to the Manager.
- Participate in an on call rotation to ensure reliable service to the community.
- Assist in carrying out daily generator checks and running of generators at the generation site as required.
- Be involved in new connections to customer sites from the distribution lines network.
- Complete tests and present written records of tests carried out, filling in job sheets, timesheets, and vehicle mileages accurately and timely.
Qualifications
A current New Zealand Driver’s Licence is required. Candidates must hold EWRB Line Mechanics Registration and a current Practicing License. A Crane Truck Operating Licence is required. Candidates must be self managing and organized, with the ability to liaise with customers and staff to plan and carry out jobs effectively. Timeliness and flexibility to prioritize work and plans as needs arise are essential. An empathetic and approachable demeanor, along with a positive can do attitude, are important. Candidates must be community minded and willing to relocate permanently to the Chatham Islands. The ability to undertake diverse tasks is essential.
