Key Responsibilities
You will be the culinary and operational heart of the community’s dining program, responsible for:
- Leading all day-to-day kitchen operations with a focus on exceptional quality, safety, and sanitation standards, including conducting regular staff trainings.
- Developing and implementing menus in collaboration with our Corporate Chef and the Resident Food Council, ensuring offerings meet resident preferences and nutritional needs while managing food costs effectively.
- Supervising, coaching, and developing the kitchen team, fostering a professional, respectful, and motivated environment.
- Utilizing menu management software for recipe entry, production sheets, inventory, and financial analysis to drive operational efficiency and fiscal responsibility.
- Ensuring all food is prepared, plated, and presented to the highest standards, employing advanced culinary techniques.
- Building strong relationships with residents, staff, and department heads through clear communication and collaborative problem-solving.
- Managing inventory, ordering, and scheduling to ensure smooth service.
Qualifications
We are looking for a leader with the right blend of experience, skill, and heart:
- A high school diploma-GED with 8+ years of relevant culinary experience, OR a 2-year Culinary/4-year Hospitality degree with 4+ years of experience.
- A valid ServSafe certification is required.
- Proven leadership in a high-volume kitchen, with excellent skills in team development, financial management, and inventory control.
- Advanced culinary and knife skills, with proficiency in classical and contemporary techniques.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Docs, menu management software).
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional demeanor and high stress tolerance.
- The physical ability to stand for long periods and frequently lift up to 35 pounds.
- Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
