Key Responsibilities
As a Maintenance Tradesperson, you will perform a wide variety of hands-on tasks essential to facility operations. Your duties will include:
- Performing general corrective and preventive maintenance on institutional buildings, roads, and grounds.
- Conducting construction and repair work across multiple trades, which may include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, painting, or masonry.
- Providing minor vehicle servicing in some institutions and operating facility service plants.
- Acting as a relief officer for various maintenance shops as required.
- Providing necessary on-the-job training and guidance to offenders as part of rehabilitation programs.
- Ensuring all work complies with safety standards and operational requirements.
Qualifications
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following essential criteria:
- Possess a Secondary School Diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Have experience and/or training in the operations, repair, and/or maintenance of buildings.
- Demonstrate integrity, effective thinking, teamwork, initiative, a strong safety orientation, and excellent communication skills.
- Must obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance, possess a valid provincial driver’s licence, and be willing and able to work flexible hours, overtime, and in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Must be willing and able to lift tools and objects weighing at least 50 lbs (a physical test may be required).
