Key Responsibilities
- Drive straight or tractor-trailer trucks to transport goods across local, national, and international routes
- Load and unload cargo carefully to prevent damage
- Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to make sure the vehicle is safe and working well
- Adjust brakes and handle minor truck maintenance when needed
- Record trip details like hours driven, distance traveled, and fuel used
- Use a CB radio and trip recorder to communicate with dispatch and track trips
- Follow all rules for transporting dangerous goods safely
- Help address customer concerns or complaints in a professional way
- Work well as part of a team, including driving in convoys when required
Qualifications/Skills
- Valid Class 1 or A driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Air Brake (Z) Endorsement is required to operate trucks safely
- At least 2 years of experience driving straight or tractor-trailer trucks on long and short routes
- Good knowledge of how to load and unload cargo without causing damage
- Ability to perform safety checks and basic truck maintenance like brake adjustments
- Comfortable using communication tools like CB radios and trip recorders to stay in touch with dispatch
- Understanding of rules for carrying dangerous goods and following safety regulations
