Location & Work Type
- Location: Tokyo, Japan – a dynamic and exciting global city
- Job type: Fixed-term contract (12 months)
- Schedules: Classes may take place on weekdays and weekends
- Salary type: Hourly pay (4,484 yen/hour for CELTA holders; 4,993 yen/hour for DELTA holders)
Key Responsibilities
- Teach fun and effective English lessons to kids and teens
- Help students improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
- Plan lessons that match the needs and level of each class
- Give feedback and correct work to help students learn better
- Keep simple records of attendance and student progress
- Work well with other teachers and staff to support student learning
- Join meetings and training to improve your teaching skills
- Create a friendly and safe classroom where students feel happy and confident
- Communicate clearly with students, parents, and coworkers when needed
Requirements
- Must-Have Skills
- A bachelor’s degree in any subject
- A CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL teaching certificate
- Very strong English skills (like CEFR level C2 or IELTS 8–9 in all areas)
- At least 2 years of English teaching experience after getting your certificate
- Experience teaching one or more of these age groups:
– Ages 3–5 (400+ hours)
– Ages 6–10 (800+ hours)
– Ages 11–14 (400+ hours)
– Ages 15–17 (400+ hours) - The right to live and work in Japan
- Preferred Skills
- A DELTA, Trinity Diploma, TYLEC, or YL extension to CELTA
- A CELTA Pass A or B grade
- Experience teaching phonics to young learners
- A love of working with kids and teens
- Willingness to join training and grow your skills
