Key Responsibilities
- Install and connect electrical equipment like transformers and ground mount switches
- Find and fix problems in high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) systems
- Follow safety rules and electrical regulations while doing all tasks
- Keep clear records of work, including GPS data for new equipment
- Help with repairs, checks, and regular maintenance on power systems
- Read and understand electrical diagrams and job plans
- Work with a team to plan and scope out each job
- Spot issues early and offer smart, safe solutions
- Make sure everything is working right to keep the power flowing safely
Requirements
- Must-Have Skills
- New Zealand-registered electrician with a current practicing licence
- Good at reading and understanding electrical diagrams and plans
- Can work safely and follow health and safety rules
- Strong problem-solving skills and good attention to detail
- Physically fit and able to handle hands-on work outdoors
- Full New Zealand driver’s licence
- Preferred Skills
- Experience working on 11kV to 220kV substation equipment
- Knowledge of isolating and switching HV and LV systems
- Competency working at heights or in heavy industry is a plus
- Familiar with using tools to plan and record work (training can be provided)
- A team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude
