Key Responsibilities
- Help residents with daily tasks like getting dressed, brushing teeth, and moving safely around the home.
- Support residents during mealtimes by serving food, helping them eat, and making sure they drink enough water.
- Give kind and careful support to residents living with dementia, making them feel safe and calm.
- Keep rooms and shared spaces clean and tidy to help everyone stay healthy and comfortable.
- Listen to residents and talk with them in a friendly way to help them feel happy and cared for.
- Report any health or safety problems to the nurse or supervisor right away so residents stay safe.
- Follow health and safety rules while helping residents, especially when lifting or moving them.
- Help with small tasks like making beds, giving out clean towels, or checking that supplies are ready.
- Work as part of a team to make sure every resident gets the best care each day.
Requirements
- Must Have Skills
- A New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or a similar qualification from New Zealand or another country.
- At least one year of experience working as a caregiver or doing a similar job helping people.
- Good at talking with people, listening, and solving small problems that come up during the day.
- A kind and friendly attitude with a strong love for helping others feel safe and happy.
- Able to follow health and safety rules and keep people safe while giving care.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience caring for people with dementia or working in a dementia care setting.
- A background in aged care or working with older adults in a healthcare setting.
