A US government support contractor is seeking an experienced HVAC Maintenance Technician to join their team at communications sites in Japan. Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and disposal of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems including the 5 Ton Environmental Control Unit built by Alaska Structures
  2. Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC equipment using knowledge of controls, components, and environmental regulations for refrigerants and hazardous materials
  3. Act as the Maximo and Hazardous Material and Hazardous Waste key person, maintaining accurate records and following safety protocols
  4. Perform general preventative maintenance on power generation equipment, doors, windows, sinks, toilets, and corrosion control on fences, gates, and signs
  5. Maintain and operate material handling equipment such as Bobcat multipurpose handler, forklifts, and manlift
  6. Operate grass cutting equipment and snow removal equipment including tracked snowblowers and Bobcat attachments
  7. Drive company vehicles twice weekly for mail pick up and delivery to Misawa AB Japan Air Post Office, plus shopping for the site operated kiosk

Qualifications

You must be a US citizen with a high school diploma or equivalent. A valid passport book with at least thirteen months of remaining validity and six blank visa or stamp pages is required. You need a minimum of five years of experience in HVAC or refrigeration maintenance. An active DoD Secret clearance is required, or you must be able to obtain one before deployment. An EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling Certification is mandatory, or you must obtain it within thirty days of arrival at the job site. You should be highly proficient in troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and rewiring of HVAC equipment, especially environmental control units. Ability to interpret drawings and schematics is expected. Physical capability for moderate to heavy lifting and wearing personal safety equipment is necessary.
