Key Responsibilities
- Utilize MIG, TIG, stick welding, and other techniques to fabricate and repair metal components according to project specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to determine the appropriate welding methods.
- Align and cut metal materials before welding, ensuring proper fit, finish, and quality.
- Weld structural components, pipes, beams, and other items as needed, following industry standards.
- Inspect welded joints and components for quality, making adjustments to prevent defects and ensure accuracy.
- Operate welding machines and hand tools, ensuring safety and precision in all tasks.
- Maintain and repair welding equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols.
- Work alongside engineers and fabricators to meet project deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Adhere to safety policies, including the use of PPE and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Conduct routine checks and adjustments to avoid common welding defects such as warping or overheating.
Qualifications
- High School diploma-GED required; completion of a technical school welding program is a must.
- 2-5+ years of welding experience in a construction or manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to pass a third-party welding test (PNL – Phoenix National Laboratories).
- Relevant welding certifications required (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick).
- Skilled in MIG, TIG, arc, and stick welding techniques.
- Proficient in the use of fabrication tools, including grinders, drills, and saws.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and welding symbols.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, able to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with all levels of employees, clients, and subcontractors.
- Ability to work in a construction site environment, including exposure to typical worksite hazards (dust, noise, moving machinery).
- Proficiency in English, with Mandarin language skills preferred.
