About the Company
We’re an innovative Agri-tech company based in Singapore, dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in controlled environment agriculture. Our focus is on producing high-quality crops efficiently and sustainably, using technology and expertise to optimise every stage of the growing process. We believe that good agronomy is the foundation of good produce, and we’re looking for someone who shares that belief. If you’re passionate about plant health, pest management, and practical problem-solving, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Implement Integrated Pest Management Strategies: You’ll develop and execute IPM plans that keep pests under control while minimising chemical inputs. Prevention is better than cure.
- Monitor Crop Health: Regularly assess plant health, looking for early signs of stress, disease, or pest issues. Catching problems early is key to maintaining quality.
- Ensure Optimal Growing Conditions: Work with the growing team to fine-tune environmental conditions temperature, humidity, light, and nutrients for maximum yield and quality.
- Conduct Regular Scouting and Inspections: Get out among the plants, inspecting leaves, stems, and roots for any signs of trouble. Your eyes and experience are the best tools.
- Recommend and Implement Corrective Actions: When issues are identified, you’ll recommend and oversee corrective measures, whether that’s biological controls, cultural practices, or targeted treatments.
- Maintain Records and Documentation: Keep accurate records of pest pressures, treatments, crop health observations, and outcomes. Data drives better decisions.
- Collaborate with the Growing Team: Work closely with farm operators and other team members to ensure everyone is aligned on plant health goals and practices.
- Stay Current with Best Practices: Agri-tech is always evolving. You’ll stay up-to-date with the latest in IPM, plant health, and greenhouse management.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Agronomy or Related Field: A qualification in agronomy, plant science, horticulture, or a similar discipline is required.
- Experience in Greenhouse Agriculture Preferred: If you’ve worked in controlled environment agriculture, that’s a significant advantage. Experience with protected cropping, hydroponics, or similar systems is highly valued.
- Hands-On Mindset: This isn’t a desk job. You need to be comfortable being out in the growing environment, getting your hands dirty, and working alongside the team.
- Strong Knowledge of IPM: You understand integrated pest management principles and know how to apply them practically.
- Observant and Detail-Oriented: You notice the small changes in plant health that others might miss.
- Problem-Solving Attitude: When issues arise, you’re proactive about finding solutions and implementing them.
- Good Communication Skills: You’ll need to explain plant health issues and recommendations clearly to the growing team and management.
- Team Player: You’ll work closely with others, so being collaborative and easy to work with is important.
- Physically Capable: The role involves walking, bending, and working in the greenhouse environment for extended periods.
Compensation
- Monthly Salary: S$3,500 – S$4,200, commensurate with experience and qualifications
