Dairy Assistant

Responsibilities

• Milk cows twice a day in the dairy shed, keeping things running smoothly.
• Look after calves, feeding and rearing them to keep them healthy.
• Hop on a tractor to feed stock or move hay around the paddocks.
• Fix fences or patch up farm bits and pieces as needed.
• Ride motorbikes or drive tractors and small gear for daily chores.
• Keep an eye on the herd, spotting any sick cows or issues early.
• Clean the dairy shed to meet hygiene and milk quality rules.
• Help with general farm jobs, from indoor tasks to outdoor grunt work.
• Check and maintain machinery to avoid breakdowns.
• Cart feed or supplies across the farm as part of the daily grind.
• Work with the farm crew to hit milking and feeding schedules.
• Clear debris or tidy up paddocks to keep the place in order.
• Follow safety rules to keep everyone and the animals safe.
• Report any gear or herd problems to the farm manager quickly and smartly.
• Pitch in with seasonal tasks like calving or pasture upkeep.

Requirements

Education

Experience

• Proven experience milking cows (essential).
